She's been trying and trying, and today, she really made progress. She was so proud of herself. I love to see it!
With Janie's birthday money, we got her a chair all her own. She is head-over-heels in love with it! Adorable.

The Things She Does...

We were playing animal flash cards, and she brought me all of the flash cards you see on the table when I asked for them. I asked for the monkey - she looked and looked, but kept passing it up. She decided to think outside the box to solve her problem. That's my girl!

John and I feel so blessed and amazed that Janie's first year has come and gone already. We can't even express the joy and wholeness she's brought to our lives. She is so sweet, smart, pretty, and so funny. We love who she is and who she is becoming. God bless her. Happy Birthday, Baby Sweetie!

A Play Date with Jack

Peek-a boo!

We drove over to Ham's Peach Orchard and had some peach ice cream on the porch. My batteries ran out before I snapped one of Janie, but she LOVED it! It got very messy, but it was a lot of fun

Summer Fun!

Janie was all smiles today because Abby and Nathan came over for a visit. She LOVES big kids! Especially all of her cousins.

I drew Janie a balloon, thinking she'd get a kick out of it. Boy, did she! She wouldn't let go of it without screaming and crying, balloon in one hand, the drawing in the other.

Janie had so much fun (once she loosened up) at Jack Hall's 2nd birthday party!

Janie WALKS!

Tonight at Bible Study Janie took 2 unaided steps to me. She was sitting on the floor, stood up, and walked with a big smile plastered on her face! Daddy was there to see it. I am so proud, I confess, I cried. Even though I didn't get a photo, I have the mental image burned into my memory. Go, Janie, go!

This One's for My Mom and Dad...

So I hear, my mom and dad had to bolt furniture to walls and put kitchen chairs in the garage to keep me from climbing on things and hurting myself. If there's a foothold of any sort, Janie is up and over. I guess I had it coming. (She sure is cute when she's being naughty : ) )

Match'em Up! - A Cute VIdeo

Janie has a set of animal flash cards, which she likes to match up with other items, such as a flash card with a cow on it to the cow from her farm puzzle, etc. One morning, she matched up her "doggies", but I didn't have my camera ready to go. I saw her crawling over to the dog with a card in her hand a day or so later, and I knew she'd done it again. So cute!!

She started this yesterday, and I caught it today. It seems like I'm coming closer and closer to losing "baby" Janie. I'm so proud of her. Go Janie, GO!!

Summer Fun

We had so much fun at the twins' birthday party today! We didn't come prepared to swim, but Uncle Eliseo insisted. Janie took to it with gusto! Before today, she wanted nothing to do with pools. She had so much fun with her cousins.








Friday night we went to Liz's Fourth of July party. I thought she'd be terrified of the fireworks (which they did up big time), but she actually didn't mind much. She loved the sparkling and twinkling - right up her ally.



Janie is starting to test out some sounds (besides "b"). She says "guh" for dog, "cruh" for crunchies (Gerber snack), "luck" for milk, "a" for cat, "eh" for ear -- still no mama or dada, she just grins really big when she's prompted for these two. She can identify some face parts, some colors, and a lot of different animals from her little flash cards. GO JANIE! Daddy and I are so proud! Stats as of 7-6-09 are: 17 lbs. 1 oz., 28 1/2 inches long.
